Imam Hussein’s sacrifice was a moral stand against oppression. Instead of pledging allegiance to the tyrant of the time, Yazid Ibn Mu’awiya, he chose to take a stand against him, and was forced to leave his home city under the threat of assassination. Due to his commitment to safeguard Islamic Principles, he sacrificed himself and his family. If it were not for the Ashura and the sacrifices of the Prophet’s progeny, the tyrant of the time would have destroyed the prophetic mission and the painful efforts of the Prophet. His death and sacrifice has inspired millions around the world to take a stand against injustice and oppression.
